If you still have your ballot, turn it in soon.

Unfortunately, we found in 2018 that the state of FL was not notifying Democrats of the rejections.

Can people call or look online to verify whether ballot has been formally accepted?

Don't know if they were notifying repugs because we weren't calling them, but no Democrats had been notified. Us telling them was the first time they knew. I expect no different from Death Sentence.

I don't live in the state - asking for those who do.
August was the first election we have ever done a mail-in ballot because we like to go to the polls and vote. Before that election, we requested the mail-in ballots for the rest of this year.
When you get your ballot, it includes a small flyer that has your voting sticker on it and also the website where you can track it. I haven't checked to see if ours was counted, but they have received it.
