So now, fewer candidates are running openly as Moms for Liberty candidates in Democratic strongholds like Orange County. And Gov. Ron DeSantis one of the few remaining, vocal advocates for the Moms hasnt endorsed any school board candidates in Orange. They know where their brand is toxic.
So how are you supposed to know who the candidates are?
Well, you can look for catchphrases like We do not co-parent with government a phrase featured in last weekends play. Its an odd declaration for people who leave their kids in school for six hours a day. Maybe some parents want to prevent their kids from learning about evolution or slavery or from reading classic literature. But their desire to shield their own kid from facts and books shouldnt trump other families rights.
Parental rights is another tell-tale phrase for candidates more interested in adults political ideology than childrens education.
One thing you can do is read the endorsements from Orlando Sentinels editorial board. Im not part of the endorsement-interview process. Heck, I dont even agree with all of the boards recommendations. But that group does a solid job of researching candidates.

(3,460 posts)This is a great resource as it also compiles and shares endorsements for all races, including non-partisan races, such as school board seats and judicial races. I found a Mom's for Liberty-endorsed candidate on my early voting ballot running for school board in Pinellas County-- because I checked this website. Check it out!!
