Trump-named airport landing in Florida? How that could work

Are you ready to fly out of Donald J. Trump International Airport? It could happen as soon as July.

Bills flying through the Florida legislative session would give the state the sole right to rename any "major commercial service airport." The only change listed in the bills are for Palm Beach International Airport to be renamed for its most famous resident.

HB 919, sponsored by Rep. Meg Weinberger, R-Palm Beach Gardens, cleared its first hearing Wednesday, Jan. 28. A companion bill, SB 706 from Sen. Debbie Mayfield, was passed unanimously by the Senate Transportation Committee the day before.

“The renaming of the airport is a tribute to leadership and legacy … in President Trump’s hometown,” Weinberger said. “Throughout our history we have come together to honor great leaders.”

but at least they waited until he was out of office (there's probably not an air traffic controller alive who doesn't still call it National). There's also a bill to rename IAD (Dulles) for Trump.
