Heard a couple days ago on my NPR affiliate's Florida report that there is talk

related to redistricting that would "dissolve" Ft. White, Fla. That's a small town in S Columbia County (near Lake City) -- and also is the birthplace of Lawton Chiles, a former Governor and U.S. Senator. Locals are fighting it, but this is just nuts.

A couple weeks ago, the same program was pointing out that "a couple" of smaller counties could be joined to adjacent larger counties. I live in a small county and hope this doesn't happen -- services would suffer, I fear, and our local taxes would go up, not down.
