Related: About this forumGood news for Crist...He takes a slight lead over Rick Scott. But we need South Fla Dems to GOTV!
Excellent article about Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Dems.
We have 6 weeks to gin up the South FL base. Absentee ballots will go out in mid October. What are you doing to help excite fellow Dems?
If you know an environmentalist remind them of how Scott has dismantled green laws and initiatives. Crist has an excellent record on the environment!
If you know someone who needs Medicaid remind them that Crist supports Medicaid expansion. Scott only pays lip service but doesn't fight for it. How many more people will be hurt if he is reflected?
If you know someone who works in a hospital remind them that hospitals are hurting financially because of the lack of Medicaid access in this state. We are losing $51billion from the federal government for a lack of action by Republicans!!
If you know a public sector worker remind them of the pension raid and the 3% Scott stole from their checks. He will come after more from teacher, cops, and firemen if reelected.
If you know a teacher fed up with VAM, Marzano, merit pay and testing remind them that Rick Scott signed all that I into law. Crist vetoed it.
If you know a person on minimum wage remind them that Scott doesn't support raising it.
We especially need African Americans and Hispanics to get out the vote! Remind them of his policies to make it harder to vote, all of which target minorities.
We don't have 2 full months. We have about 4-6 weeks to get Dems fired up. And we need South FL!!!! If SoFla voted in 2010 we would have Alex Sink!

(46,574 posts)How excited do you think a blue collar Latin or Black American is going to get if the best thing you have to offer them involves the ease to vote? Really? Many of them are too busy making it to their second jobs to see the cause and effect of politics which have, for a large part, supported a redistribution of government money that is far more networked in white-based communities, than it is in their own neighborhoods. Not to mention that any government project that is meant to benefit them is a twofer because it usually involves construction contracts to cronies.
I really feel like the minority vote is being taken for granted on this one.

(1,115 posts)Both of which would benefit the blue collar worker or person going to a second job in your scenario. Rick Scott not so much. Seems the choice is clear and common folks would be lining up to vote for Charlie.
