College Student who stomped on American flag arrested in FL
A student protester, who was also wanted on gun charges, was arrested on Thursday morning in Tampa.
Authorities said Eric Sheppard had a warrant for his arrest after a gun was discovered in his backpack at Valdosta State University in Georgia. Sheppard had participated in a campus protest in which students trampled on the U.S. flag in April, according to WTVM-TV.
Sheppard uploaded a video to YouTube that explained why he, and other protesters, walked on the American flag, saying "that flag represents white supremacy racism which is plaguing the entire earth, so when we step on that flag we are stepping on racism, white supremacy. We are stepping on the things that were erected alongside our genocide and our holocaust."
"I am a terrorist toward lies. I'm a terrorist toward liars. I'm a terrorist toward those that are wicked, so yes, I am a terrorist toward white people," Sheppard also said.
During the protest, veteran Michelle Manhart "was seen on video taking the flag from protesters and refusing to return it.
Following the first protest, flag supporters organized a patriotic rally for the American flag on campus, called "Flags over VSU."
