Peaceful protests spread across South Florida as anti-racism movement grows

Hundreds gathered in groups on busy street corners across South Florida, Saturday, to speak out against racism and speak up for civil rights.

The day of demonstrations kicked off at 9 a.m. with more than 100 gathering in Mizner Park and along Federal Highway in Boca Raton.

It was the first Black Lives Matter event that African-American Boca resident Vaughn Crichlow attended, and he credits his 15-year-old daughter Arielle for getting him involved.

“The social conscience she’s developed and the desire to do something and take a stand really inspired me,” he said.
