Hawaii tropical storm - how bad will it be?

the latest projected path shows the worst case track, but the storm is relatively small so a 50 mile deviation either way makes a big improvement in weather for some areas. At this point a sharp turn is not likely.
A possible scenario is that it scores a direct hit on the big island of Hawaii with its pair of 13,000 foot volcanos which will severely damage the storm circulation, but that outcome is bad for the people living on that island.

Here in Waikiki the probable worst outcome is a long term power outage due to previously unstressed trees and power poles coming down.

and flooding. the islands have low mountains with steep canyon sides that funnel water into narrow high volume channels.

then again, it could just turn out to be heavy showers and breezier than usual.

2. This is the 1st year we have canceled our Hawaiian vacation due to the covid19

Every other year it's been that we can't afford it.

This means the windward side of all islands will get whatever happens. Thanks to our beloved Mauna for breaking up the worst of the storms. Beware the sneaky hurricanes approaching from the south!
