Feds drop money laundering charges against Coeur d'Alene doctor ensnared in ex-wife's drug case
All felony money laundering charges will be dismissed against Coeur dAlene physician Stanley Toelle in exchange for a guilty plea to two misdemeanor charges that he did not report his former wifes income as a stripper to the IRS.
Its pretty rare for the government to take a knee on 10 felonies, said Toelles attorney, Nick Vieth. Im glad they were able to see that this is justice. The biggest thing hes guilty of is marrying the wrong woman.
Toelles ex-wife, Loren Toelle, pleaded guilty in January to a drug-dealing conspiracy for her role in a narcotics ring that spanned Washington, Nevada, Montana and Idaho. Toelle has long maintained that he knew nothing about it.
The government finally conceded that Dr. Toelle did not have anything to do with her drug activity, Vieth said.
