The theory is, Illinois government employees' pensions are breaking the state. If they fire the employees then rehire them, they can force those people to move into 401(k) plans.

Unfortunately, when you fire then rehire a government employee in the real world everything the government employee had coming to him or her before the firing is still coming to him or her - INCLUDING the pension plan that is standing in the way of yet another budget-busting tax cut.

Make no mistake: right wingers' entire worldview revolves around tax cuts and deregulation.
