Friend exposed to the virus

I have a friend here who is a fairly new activist. He is doing a great job as a member of our Democratic Central Committee and precinct committeeman. I have some fairly detailed voter lists for him, with notes and phone numbers. I was happy to pass it off to him, because now I have to cover only two precincts instead of four.

He works with the public, and has been under strict guidelines, for everyone's safety.

One of his co-workers went to a bar to celebrate the limited reopening. He says the co-worker stayed outside, but even that has its dangers. Two people there came up positive. She interacted with both of them. Now my friend has to stay home. Fortunately, he lives alone.

We have all been happy and proud that our state has moved to Phase 4. IMO, it is too early to celebrate. I am worried for this guy. And I am madder than ever at Trump.

This is the first time I have been impacted personally by the virus. Stay safe. Be kind to your friends and family.

I know this is anecdotal, but I don't want to put this guy's personal information out here. I just wanted to share how angry and helpless I feel today.

1. I agree our positives are rising. It's scary. I'm a nurse. It feels like all our hard work in IL

could soon go down the drain.

2. The employees in some of our local stores

have stopped wearing masks. I have called them on it, in a polite way. I think they are being very rude and uncaring toward their customers and the members of our community. Wearing masks is a shared responsibility.

Also, they had a beer garden downtown today, courtesy of one of the local pubs. They did practice social distancing, but I can't see doing this so soon. The pandemic is not over.

I did my errands and went home. Yes, it could go down the drain.

3. Not Seeing That Here

Employees around here have been totally compliant!
In grocery store, 90%+ customers masked. Same with pharmacy. We only have one, as the township is only around 8,000 people.
Liquor stores (3) and the hardware store, not so much.
Maybe 60%, maybe 2 in 3.
Oddly enough I went to a totally outdoor nursery last Friday. 100% masks! But, hardware store, no.

4. Don't Get Too Down

This is the IDPH info as of today!
Scroll to see the lower right graph (out of 6), for each region.
Positivity is still trending down in all but the southern region. And their uptick is small.
As a state, positivity is under 3% state wide over the last 19 days.
