Indiana lawmakers honor Mike Pence for retirement from the vice presidency
The Indiana Senate adopted a resolution honoring Mike Pence's "retirement" from the vice presidency this week. Pence, of course, lost his bid for reelection in November, along with former President Donald Trump.
The resolution praised him for championing policies as governor "to make Indiana a state that works," and his decision to implement the Healthy Indiana Plan 2.0. As vice president, the resolution continued, Pence worked to "promote tax reform, common sense regulation rollbacks, and peace both at home and abroad."
While Pence appears to have no plans to retire from politics and instead has laid the groundwork for a potential 2024 presidential run, it's not uncommon for the Indiana Senate to offer such resolutions for folks who are not technically retiring.
