MASON CITY, Iowa — Absentee ballots for the Mason City Special Election on February 24 will be available starting Wednesday.

Eligible voters can vote absentee at the county auditor's office or request a ballot by mail.

Voters must present a valid ID, such as an Iowa Driver’s License, Iowa Non-operator’s ID, or U.S. Passport. Requests for mailed absentee ballots should be sent to the County Auditor at 220 North Washington Avenue, Mason City, IA 50401, and must include the voter's personal details and election information. The deadline for these requests is 5:00 p.m. on February 9.

Voters will be electing a new city council person for Ward 1. Polling places will be combined, with the election held at Grace Evangelical Free Church, located at 440 North Illinois Avenue.
