When Tommy was Gubner of WI, he often had himself flown around

in a state plane. The State Patrol would rush him to the airport in a big black Suburban, with another one full of bodyguards & lackeys close behind. Then he would be picked up at the destination airport by a similar mini-convoy. One time he flew to Janesville, about 50 miles from Madison, & the Patrol couldn't come up with the requisite vehicles to pick him up on the other end. Their solution? They raced down at 100 MPH, sirens blaring, to pick him up at the Janesville airport with the same Suburbans and crew that had driven him to the Madison airport.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?

This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.

As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
