BREAKING: Branstad 46, Hatch 40 (Rasmussen). http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/elections/election_2014/iowa/election_2014_iowa_governor
another post a few minutes later:
What's important about this morning's Rasmussen Poll:
1. Our television ads the past 2 weeks are breaking through
2. Iowans are tuning in to media coverage and the debates and learning about the most scandal-ridden administration in Iowa history.
3. Our long-predicted surge in the polls as Iowans begin to pay attention after Labor Day is real.
4. We have always said this will be a close race, and we're being proven right. Our opponents preen as if its a blowout and they are absolutely wrong.
My comment: Remember Rasmussen is a republican leaning poll so this news has to be quite concerning to Branny

The Quinipiac poll has been pretty much considered a real outlier.

(22,870 posts)And I was very impressed with his ideas..he has a very laid back speaking style..and I worried that maybe he was not firing up the voters enough..but if you listen to Branstad, Hatch is a much much better speaker..
edit to add
and the money that is being thrown around for Branstad and Ernst and republicans in general is enough to support smaller countries.. it is just mind boggling.. but they keep breaking though the noise.. even on the western side of the state where I am..

(18,470 posts)That would really stick in the teabag craw having their hero voted out of office.

(12,336 posts)I saw an attack ad against Hatch earlier today. Until now, Branstad (I guess) felt no need to run ads like that, instead just touting his own "accomplishments".

(62,371 posts)not sure if it is the Branstad campaign itself or Rove and friends. All that has not gained them an inch and Branstad is still polling under 50% (@44 last I saw I think.) Don't think he has gained one point since they started their advertising blitz in May or June. He should be scared.
And absentee ballot numbers and early voting number are shouting out "democrats."
