Local teabagger has "classy" response to birthday greeting.

One of our area Democratic Representatives sent a birthday greeting to one of our local teabaggers. That prompted this response.

I recently turned 65. But along with cards from well-wishers, I also got a surprise "official certificate of recognition" for reaching this milestone from Democrat Nancy Dunkel (House District 57) and her pals in the Iowa House of Representatives!

Despite today's pressing public issues, apparently Ms. Dunkel has nothing better to do than cajole a majority of her fellow legislators to go on record to flatter "birthday seniors" by sending them mawkish, pseudo-documents emblazoned with an Iowa Capitol dome drawing, embossed gold lettering and her signature as a reminder of who made it possible.

Even though the envelope states this certificate was "not mailed or produced at taxpayers' expense," its very existence has wormed its way into official state legislative proceedings, providing proof of squandered time and effort that could have been better spent on genuine issues. That is, unless Dunkel and her cronies think they can hoodwink voters into believing that this is official business when it's nothing but a stunt to boost her name recognition.

Rest assured this isn't a rant from a cranky senior who doesn't like being reminded of his age. Rather, it's a call for accountability and a demand that our elected officials spend their time efficiently and our tax dollars wisely.

How classy. I bet he wouldn't have said a word if he had gotten something similar from the local Republicans. Sigh.

... if he'd had the grace to say, "Thank you." I know a few Teabaggers in my area, and, without exception, they are rabidly belligerent and malicious people that I would shake hands with unless I'd had the shots.
