Declaring that "mitigation efforts have stopped the growth of COVID-19 cases in the commonwealth," Gov. Andy Beshear announced 3,388 new coronavirus cases and 27 new deaths in Kentucky on Saturday.
The state's positivity rate, which he celebrated as staying "stable," is at 8.58%. It was at 8.59% Friday, up slightly from Thursday's 8.45%.
Kentucky has now lost 2,371 people to the virus and 240,564 people have been infected. As of Saturday afternoon, 1,655 are hospitalized, 438 are in intensive care units and 253 are on ventilators.
What we are seeing is that the measures we have taken are working, Beshear said in a statement. We have stopped the increase in cases, which we knew we had to do before we can start to decrease those numbers."
