8-month-old baby left in vehicle for hours in Hammond (LA) dies, TPSO says

Investigators said the baby was unintentionally left in the vehicle between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. after the child's guardian thought she had left him at a daycare.

The guardian told investigators that she thought she left the child at the daycare on her way to work Wednesday morning. When she returned to pick up the boy, he wasn't there, the Sheriff's Office said.

She returned to her vehicle and discovered the baby in the back seat, still in the car seat, investigators said. The baby was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators believe the boy was in the vehicle while his guardian was at work Wednesday in Hammond.
