Sen. Kennedy: Louisiana health secretary should resign
U.S. Sen. John Kennedy called for Louisiana Health Department Secretary Rebekah Gee to resign following an audit showing the state may have misspent up to $85 million on Medicaid recipients who are ineligible for the program.
Kennedy, R-La., said he will author federal legislation requiring all states to be more stringent in verifying Medicaid eligibility.
"The report was stunning breathtaking," Kennedy said Wednesday on a conference call with reporters. "It's an insult. It's a whiz down the leg of every taxpayer in Louisiana and America.
"Dr. Gee needs to step down. She just pissed away $60 million to $80 million in taxpayer dollars."
