Adjustments to Giant store Hours of Operation

Effective Friday, March 27th, most of our stores will adjust hours of operation to be open from 6:00am-10:00pm (our 24-hour locations will remain open 24 hours). This gives our store teams more downtime to replenish and clean the store as they balance the demands of a significant increase in consumer needs.

The first hour of operation (6:00am–7:00am) is reserved for senior citizens and immunocompromised individuals (including pregnant women and caregivers shopping for the immunocompromised) so that they may shop while practicing safe social distancing. Additionally, beginning Monday, March 30, our in-store pharmacies will open at 6:00am on Mondays and Thursdays. Pharmacies will otherwise maintain their regular hours.

New Hours of Operation for Giant Locations in Washington D.C., Virginia, Maryland and Delaware (Effective Friday, March 27)
Open 6:00am–10:00pm daily
24-hour stores will remain open 24 hours

New In-Store Pharmacy Hours of Operation (Effective Monday, March 30)
Open 6:00am–regular closing time on Monday and Thursday
Open regular hours on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday–Sunday
24-hour pharmacies will remain open 24 hours

That helps the checkers at least. The stock clerks are still screwed, but it would be hard to protect them without hazmat suits.

I tried Instacart delivery from my Giant for the first time yesterday rather than go there myself, though. I actually got most of what I ordered (it was all food or drink items), with a number of acceptable substitutions (which I approved in real time). I'm very grateful this service is available and added a huge tip to my order.
