Weird Covid numbers for Maryland today

As the Omicron wave tails off, the number of Covid cases in MD have declined significantly over the last several weeks. Then I checked the numbers this morning:

Sunday new cases: 718
Monday new cases: 425
Tuesday new cases: 444
Wednesday new cases: 23,402

Not sure what the heck that is all about, but it sure looks like an error.

at https://coronavirus.maryland.gov/ and I see 481 as the number of new positives there.
