I lived in Hagerstown, 20 miles north of Frederick, am now 60 miles south, but glad you're here, and glad the weather is so moderate for your move (tho looks like some thunderstorms later today.)

If you've never tried it, I think it's great. Go to www.meetup.com and type in the type of group you want to associate with within 10 or more miles of Frederick, see what you get.
