Six Flags New England is among first parks to reopen after COVID - but no rides
As more residents begin to receive their COVID-19 vaccinations, many attractions are starting to welcome visitors this spring. One of them is Six Flags New England, located just over the Connecticut border in Agawam, Mass. This weekend it opened a special attraction called “Dinosaurs: A Walk Thru Experience.”
The exhibit will run on weekends and select days starting Saturday and running through May 23. Guests can enjoy a one-way dinosaur adventure in accordance with the public health guidelines in Massachusetts. This prehistoric event is free to all 2021 members and season pass holders, with discounted day-tickets available at sixflags.com/newengland.
It includes 20 life-size dinosaurs with life-like movement and sounds, a kid-friendly dinosaur puppet experience, dinosaur-themed games and characters and Six Flags’ famous Looney Tune characters. All event guests must reserve a timed ticket to manage attendance. The park will also check attendees’ temperatures. The rest of the amusement park — including the roller coasters and other rides — remains closed. Massachusetts has not announced when theme parks can reopen.
In Connecticut, amusement parks can open at full capacity with masking and distancing. Quassy Amusement Park in Middlebury is set to open on April 24, with Lake Compounce in Bristol to follow on May 8.
