Loved ones mourn missing Holland woman after remains found in shark
(Detroit Free Press) HOLLAND — News outlets across the globe have reported a woman from South Dakota was eaten alive by a shark near East Timor, but the woman’s loved ones say that’s not the real story.
Colleen Monfore was really a Holland resident, though she has family in South Dakota. According to property records, she and her husband own a home in Park Township.
Colleen, 68, went missing while on a diving trip in Indonesia with her husband Michael. She was last seen Sept. 26, according to friends and family.
Almost two weeks later, fishermen in East Timor caught an agitated shark and cut human remains — reportedly belonging to Colleen — out of its stomach. The shark was killed more than 70 miles from where Colleen disappeared. ....................(more)
