MI-SD35: State Democrats host Get Out the Vote Rally in Saginaw

SAGINAW, Mich.—The May 2026 Special Election is almost here and will soon fill the 35th Senate District seat in Michigan that’s sat empty since January 3, 2025 when Kristen McDonald Rivet left to serve in Congress. On Monday April 27, Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist, State Representative Amos O’Neal and 35th Senate District Democratic Candidate Chedrick Greene hosted a Get Out the Vote Rally and campaign event to discuss the Midterm Election and voting rights.

During the rally Greene says,

“I know I've spent some time in Iraq where I got to cover one of the first three elections in that country for people who were the first time voting for 80 years. So don't take it for granted. Voting is very important. Your voice does matter."

The 2026 Special Election takes play May 5th early voting has started and polls open on Tuesday at 7:00 am.
