(Michigan Advance) I am a delegate from West Michigan who attended the Michigan Democratic Party Endorsement Convention in Detroit this weekend.

The media narrative of “antisemitism” and “division” completely ignores the reality of what happened on the floor, including the overwhelming support for progressive Jewish candidates like Eli Savit. From my “boots on the ground” perspective, the base is actually more united than the leadership wants to admit.

I joined more than 7,200 fellow Michiganders at Huntington Place in Detroit for a historic, record-breaking turnout, the kind of energy that political strategists usually dream of. Yet, if you read the headlines Monday morning, you would think I had attended a riot rather than a democratic process.

The narrative currently being pushed by party insiders and certain media outlets is that the convention was defined by “hostility” and “antisemitism.” As a delegate from Holland who stood on that floor for two days, I am here to tell you that this characterization is not just an exaggeration; it is a tactical distortion designed to silence the most motivated part of the Democratic base. ..................(more)
