Rogers defends Trump policies while pitching affordability fixes at Mackinac Policy Conference

Michigan Advance) MACKINAC ISLAND Prior to Democratic candidates Abdul El-Sayed, Mallory McMorrow and Haley Stevens duking it out in a debate Thursday afternoon at the Mackinac Policy Conference, Republican U.S. Senate candidate Mike Rogers held his own conversation with WOOD-TVs Rick Albin on Thursday morning.
The former congressman from White Lake, who is now the lone GOP candidate for U.S. Senate, was pressed on questions regarding affordability, education and wages and the United States relationship with Canada.
On affordability, Rogers was asked about home ownership and how to make that more accessible. Rogers said housing was a problem, especially for folks who are no longer young people and squarely in the middle of their lives.

While not directly tied to housing, President Donald Trumps war in Iran is complicating affordability by driving up oil prices and complicating the supply chain. Thats on top of the hardships average people are facing due to Trumps tariff price hikes, with those measures affecting food prices and other goods.
