Mayor declares March 15 Ruth Bader Ginsburg Day in Ann Arbor
ANN ARBOR, MI Mayor Christopher Taylor is officially declaring March 15 Ruth Bader Ginsburg Day in Ann Arbor.
In recognition of what would have been the late U.S. Supreme Court justices 88th birthday, Taylor issued a proclamation he plans to read at Monday nights City Council meeting, describing her as an inspiring role model for women and a champion of civil rights for all people regardless of gender.
RBG was a force of nature, it states, noting she earned the nickname The Notorious RBG as a cultural icon.
RBG was a modern feminist role model advocating for gender equality, LGBTQI rights, womens reproductive rights, fair pay for all and affirmative action, the proclamation states, pointing out Ginsburg was one of only nine women in her Harvard Law School class in the 1950s, among about 500 men.
