(57,780 posts)When you vote early in person, you fill out an absentee ballot.
question everything
(52,398 posts)This is when ballots are fed directly into the machine.
But I will still need an absentee ballot and I think that it is too late to request one.
I will call City Hall to ask.
I kinda remember many years ado that the city did have ballots..

(57,780 posts)I broke both my ankles just prior to the primary, and they mailed me an absentee ballot right away. Check online on the Secretary of State web site. You can follow the link from my previous post.
question everything
(52,398 posts)Anyway, just called city Hall and starting Nov 1 I go in, fill an application, get a ballot and vote then and there.

You don't have to have one mailed to you in advance.

(52,398 posts)Still have the applications that were mailed by the DFL

Technically, Minnesota does not have "early voting", just "no excuse" absentee voting. If I decided to vote now at city hall, I'd have to fill out the usual absentee paperwork as well as the ballot but I could do it all in one stop at one convenient location.
question everything
(52,398 posts)This way it is being tabulated.
dflprincess
(29,417 posts)As far as I know ballots are kept by the City Clerk (in a secure location as the law requires) and they can start feeding them into the tabulator up to two weeks before the election.
This close to election day, it beats having to rely on the mail for the absentee process.

(13,077 posts)but for early voting, there is only one location: the Golden Valley City Hall.
I'm betting its similar where you live. In P_______, for example, the early voting is in the city hall.
