When do early voting start? Not with a prefilled ballot but getting a ballot at

1. It differs state by state.

Here in MA it starts 10/22-11/4.

When you vote early in person, you fill out an absentee ballot.

This is when ballots are fed directly into the machine.

But I will still need an absentee ballot and I think that it is too late to request one.

I will call City Hall to ask.

I kinda remember many years ado that the city did have ballots..

I broke both my ankles just prior to the primary, and they mailed me an absentee ballot right away. Check online on the Secretary of State web site. You can follow the link from my previous post.

Anyway, just called city Hall and starting Nov 1 I go in, fill an application, get a ballot and vote then and there.

7. The last time I voted absentee at City Hall, they gave me a form, I filled it out, gave it to them

and they gave me a ballot, I filled it out right there and fed it into the machine.

You don't have to have one mailed to you in advance.

11. If you're able to physically go to your city hall you should be able to cast an absentee ballot

there now.

Technically, Minnesota does not have "early voting", just "no excuse" absentee voting. If I decided to vote now at city hall, I'd have to fill out the usual absentee paperwork as well as the ballot but I could do it all in one stop at one convenient location.

This way it is being tabulated.

As far as I know ballots are kept by the City Clerk (in a secure location as the law requires) and they can start feeding them into the tabulator up to two weeks before the election.

This close to election day, it beats having to rely on the mail for the absentee process.

4. In Golden Valley, there are 8 precincts so 8 polling places on election day

but for early voting, there is only one location: the Golden Valley City Hall.

I'm betting its similar where you live. In P_______, for example, the early voting is in the city hall.
