They can send her case to the ethics commission but this will take time, too.

And they don't have the majority to expel her.

Arrested in the basement at 4:45am.
Dressed entirely in black with black hat.
Flashlight had a sock over it to direct/diminish light.
Had a backpack with stolen laptops /cell phone stuffed into escape window.

Whatever the circumstances, you go to lawyers and handle it through the courts.
You don't become a middle of the night burglar.

Expell her, politics be damned.
