(131,231 posts)She does not necessarily need to resign yet, depending on what happens with those charges. The fact that the incident apparently arose from some unfortunate family situation doesn't change the fact that she broke into an occupied home through a window, at night, with the intent to take items that did not belong to her. It could be third or fourth degree burglary. https://www.revisor.mn.gov/statutes/cite/609.582. Would you feel differently if she had been a GOPer?
Due process is a concept involving legal proceedings; asking someone to resign isn't subject to due process but to the rules of the state legislature and/or the party. I agree that more needs to be known first, but being a DFLer isn't enough to excuse her. Don't we say the law applies equally to everyone?

(9,350 posts)The DFL chair did not ask him to resign. He was missing plates and the vehicle was not registered.
He was swerving and people called it in.
That is much worse. I have not heard anything about him going to treatment for example.
I think at this early time with the issue, I would feel the same with GOP. It depends on the GOPer, most are very bad!
I am just mad about this situation. It reminds of the immediate forcing out of Franken.

Let the Republicans be the party of criminals.
