Thomas Edwards, who describes himself as an activist and concerned citizen, said he saw an alert on social media on Monday about federal agents in the area and went out to observe and protect his neighbors.
The criminal complaint said Edwards began trailing the federal agents at a Home Depot where they were conducting surveillance. The agents reported Edwards was screaming, blowing his whistle, and driving erratically while following the Agents.
At one point, the agents said Edwards had a firearm in his hand.
Absolutely didnt go down that way, Edwards said in an interview with 5 INVESTIGATES. He says he has a permit to carry and had a gun in his truck but denies pointing it at the agents.
According to the criminal complaint, Edwards stated that he would have shot [an ICE agent] because he was pointing a gun at me. He reiterated that point in the interview with 5 INVESTIGATES.
They had guns on me the whole time, he said. Through this whole thing, Im just going to tell you, they never identified themselves to me. They never, nothing. They didnt say a word.
