There is now a network of watchers all over town, calling it out, grabbing license plates, tracking them, all of that. The ICE agents now are basically kidnap squads, driving around town, grabbing brown people off the street, out of their cars. Its not targeted at all now, and it doesn't matter if they're released a few hours later. DHS demands arrests in numbers, but doesn't demand charges, deportations, nothing like that. The only metric that matters is the number of people snatched off the streets.
The entire reason for this 'surge' here is to investigate allegations of public benefits fraud, but these morons on mismatched uniforms aren't empowered to investigate anything.
I feel like I'm living under hostile occupation here, and what we really need is support, we need people to come out in numbers every day. We need to resist stronger and stronger. We need help, and more than we can provide just here in the city.
If we can flood Minneapolis with peaceful protests and direct action, make it more and more difficult for them, we can push them out.
