Join us 9/15 at 6:30, Eagan. Tell MAC workers deserve $ 15 hour.

this is something I'm very excited about. The way Seattle passed $ 15/hour wage, was they first got it passed at the Seattle airport.
I think we can do the same in MN if enough people get involved.

Tell the MAC: workers deserve $15!
Metropolitan Airport Commission Meeting

Pack the MAC meeting to show support for low-wage airport workers demanding $15 minimum wage!

Monday Sept 15th 6:30 pm
Eagan Community Center / 1501 Central Parkway Eagan, MN /
North and Central Oaks Rooms

A campaign for $15 at the Minneapolis/St.Paul airport is just the beginning. But winning will not be easy. Low-wage workers must organize in their communities and workplaces to pressure our city councils, the airport authority, colleges, and even corporations to raise up wages. $15 at the MSP airport or the city of Minneapolis will only win with a powerful movement built by workers and supporters campaigning through community meetings, rallies, and mass actions.

Why airport workers are fighting for $15/hour

Over the past decade MSP wages have been slashed. Outsourcing of good jobs to low wage sub-contractors has increased dramatically. Working conditions have been attacked.

Delta, the biggest employer at MSP airport, recorded $2.3 billion in profit in 2013.

According to Delta VP Bill Lentsch, nearly 25% of Delta's profit is annually produced in MSP, at least $600 million.

Delta CEO Richard Anderson made $12 million in 2013. Some workers are paid as little as $8/hr to clean Delta's planes.

More than 2,500 workers at the MSP airport make poverty wages, substantially less than $15/hr.

Airport workers in St. Louis, Seattle, San Francisco, and Los Angeles won a $15/hr minimum wage by demanding their right to a living wage.

One year after the Seatac victory, 15 Now organized a mass campaign in Seattle for a $15 minimum wage, winning overwhelming popular support.

On June 2nd, 2014, low-wage workers in Seattle won the highest minimum wage in the country. 100,000 Seattle workers will see raises, and its estimated the wage hike will reduce poverty by 25%.

Now, MSP workers are getting organized with 15 Now.
Over the past two decades, MSP airport wages have been slashed and hours cut, with the bosses attempting to justify the cuts in a recession period, although corporations like US Airways and Delta have hired non-union contractors paying poverty wages to maximize profits since as early as 2005.
