No New Wars – Stop Bombing Iraq & Syria!

Saturday, September 27th @ 3 pm @ Mayday Plaza Cedar Ave. & 3rd Street, West Bank, Minneapolis

The Minneapolis September 27 protest will be part of a coordinated anti-war campaign in cities across the U.S. from September 23–29 to protest the U.S. bombing of Syria and Iraq.

The coordinated days of action came after the start of U.S. military operations in Syria earlier this week. MPAC issued a statement that says in part, “The Obama Administration and the Pentagon have launched a new war in Iraq and now Syria, wars which will not benefit the people of Iraq, Syria or the U.S. Since June of this year, the U.S. has spent $500 million on operations in Iraq. The U.S. has been at war for 13 years. Enough is enough! If we have learned anything, it should be that U.S. intervention, troops, bombs, drones or ‘advisers does not bring peace or justice, but only lays the basis for new wars and interventions,” the statement continues. The administration is borrowing from the fear mongering tactics of the Bush administration to sell the case for war, with tales of immediate dangers of terrorist attack, yet just hours before the bombing started the White House said there was no immediate threat. It was the U.S. invasion and occupation that destroyed Iraq and brought about the current crisis. Nothing the Pentagon does can undo that or bring about peace. The people of Iraq must determine their own future." Organized by the Minnesota Peace Action Coalition and endorsed by the Anti-War Committee.
