US House voted on the right to trial

The last NDAA (National Defense Authorization Act) said that the government can accuse people in the US of being terrorists and the imprison them without trial for the rest of their lives.

For the current NDAA, the House voted on an amendment today to restore the right to trial.

Most Democrats voted Yes: have trials.

Most Republicans voted No: don't have trials.

Minnesota Reps who voted for the right-to-trial include Betty McCollum and Tim Walz.

Minnesota Reps who voted against the right-to-trial include Eric Paulsen, Collin Peterson, and Keith Ellison.

I wonder what Keith Ellison was thinking.

but seriously, that is a WTF moment.

I'm hoping he voted that way because of some other item tacked on, or that it was some kind of trick. I dunno.

I got a reply from his office:

"The Congressman inadvertently voted against the amendment. He actually supported it and made that clear for the Congressional record later in the day."
