Not sure about the term. I think about a week before Nov. 3rd, when one can go to, say, City Hall, and just feed the filled ballot to the machine? As opposed to inserting it into the envelope with the voter details to be opened later?

(52,400 posts)when you fill it, put in the envelope provided and submit to SOS when it would be counted - I don't know.
Direct balloting requires no envelopes. Just feed into the machine as one would do on election day.
