Woman sues Missouri restaurant known as “Home of Throwed Rolls” for being hit by a roll
OZARK, Mo. – A well-known Missouri restaurant, known for being the “Home of Throwed Rolls,” may be in some hot water for a guest who is saying she received a roll-related injury.
Lambert’s Cafe, the Sikeston-based restaurant chain, which features dinner rolls being thrown across the room by servers to guests, is being sued. The suit was filed Tuesday by a woman named Troy Tucker who claims she “sustained a lacerated cornea with a vitreous detachment and all head, neck, eyes and vision were severely damaged” after being hit by a dinner roll during a visit in September of 2014. Tucker is seeking at least $25,000 to cover for her medical bills and legal fees. The restaurant’s “carelessness and negligence” as the lawsuit alleges, has already caused expenses totaling $10,000. http://fox4kc.com/2015/08/13/woman-sues-missouri-restaurant-known-as-home-of-throwed-rolls-for-being-hit-by-a-roll/

3. Does the restaurant give diners tickets with liability disclaimers like Major League Baseball
does? I'm guessing this will be covered by their insurance the premiums of which would be
set to cover the occasional errant roll. |

4. That was one mighty hard roll, or maybe a mighty exaggerated claim.
If you go to Pike St Market in Seattle to watch them throw customers fish, can you complain when you get hit in the face by a wet mackerel? Seems like the same thing.

5. I wonder if she threw rolls. Places like this can be fun.
I went to a place that you threw napkins. Of course you soak them in water first. It was at a beach type place. Most fun. If you go to a place designed for this, you should not be able to sue. Hopefully this will be thrown out of court.

6. Rolls are very soft (think Brown & Serve Dinner Rolls)
I eat there often, and while they will indeed fling you a roll;
1) They are very soft 2) You have to request a roll, in fact, it is sometimes difficult to get a roll server's attention 3) The "throw" is usually an underhanded toss 4) Maybe if a roll hit you just right in the eye, you may sustain an injury, but head and neck? These things are softer than Nerf balls. |

7. People across the country who've never been there have heard about the restaurant.
It's been discussed in personal interest items on news shows on tv, etc. It's interesting approach to dining is well known.
She should have to experience being laughed out of court. Maybe the judge could crumble up a copy of his judgement and toss it to her, very, very gently. Incidently, I'm sure a lot of first timers go there specifically because they hope to see "throwed rolls." Sounds like a lot of fun. |
