Gov. Parsons shocked me by continuing a state of emergency w/ covid!

A republican governor continued the state of emergency in the state of MO (Missouri). I am shocked since it took him so long to even recognize covid as a serious issue, despite the fact that both major metro areas (KC MO and STL MO) were dealing w/ some pretty serious covid outbreaks, which then spread to SW Missouri and other parts of MO. Perhaps people recognized how screwed up he was in his initial responses to dealing w/ the Covid outbreak?

ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -- Governor Mike Parson extended the state of emergency in Missouri through August to further help with the fight against the coronavirus.

Parson announced Missouri's state of emergency on March 13, 2020 and it was set to expire on March 31. Parson extended the executive order on Friday through August 31, to "help accelerate COVID-19 recovery."

"The state of emergency extension will allow the state continued flexibility in providing resources and easing regulatory burdens to further assist Missouri’s COVID-19 recovery efforts," Parson's office said in the announcement. "This also allows for continued utilization of the Missouri National Guard and federal funding for COVID-19 response efforts."

4. Did not know this...I guess getting sick like so many Missourians did w/ Covid finally caused him

to see the 'light' and recognize how serious this disease is. In a way, while I don't wish bad on people, but this is a good thing for him and his wife to suffer and actually see how serious this disease is, and thus, treat it with the respect it deserves. Our medical people have been saying all along how serious this disease is.

Kind of like people that have back injuries, you don't really recognize how serious a back injury can be unless you suffered a like injury too.

7. They had

Covid last October and to hear them talk they had mild symptoms. I think he’s doing this to keep money coming for national guard in case we have protesters this summer as well as federal funding for Covid response. Now if our stupid legislators would fund Medicaid expansion. Even though we voted to expand it I believe in 2019, they refuse to fund it. They are also trying to overturn the vote to expand it. Sorry, but I don’t trust most of what he does.

6. And put in more vaccination sites in the larger cities. The sites thus far have all been way out

in the county, and in one case I heard, some friends of mine drove all of the way to Sedalia, MO (from STLMO) to receive their Covid shots, a roughly 3 hour trip! And I just looked again, they do say Covid shots are still very limited and the shots are still not readily available in the STL MO city area...my other half and I don't feel like driving all of the way to Sedalia of all places. Our best bet is to wait until his work place offers the vaccines to its workers (and see if they'll also do family members) or wait until my pharmacy gets the shots (Walgreen's).

At least my friends in the health field (STLMO has 10s of thousands of health workers, w/ the sheer number of medical schools, hospital complexes, etc.) in the city have got their shots, they deserve the shots far more than I, and I'm willing to wait until those on the front lines have gotten their shots.
