Earthquake in western MT at 6:47 am.

3.7 magnitude. Epicenter was near Ravalli, MT just north of Missoula. It woke me up…my wooden blinds were rattling. Anybody else feel it? It also looks like several quakes have occurred near Cokeville, WY.

1. So that's what that was...

I felt my floor move slightly and it got my attention but was nothing to be excited about. What it felt like was like the floor was suddenly a little flexible and was doing a tiny flex.

I'm sure it was more noticeable there!

2. I second guessed myself at first...

We’ve got a McMansion being built on my street and I thought that maybe it was one of the construction trucks…but it was the blinds that got me. Both my dogs went nuts.

3. Felt nothing down in the Bitterroot Valley. Did it raise whitecaps on Flathead Lake?

5. I had an earthquake kit in Japan.

Some items:

Rope or heavy string or fishing line to dry clothes ( I was in Japan with humidity.

Bandages, tweezers.

A heavy table to hide under.

Solar power phone charger (new idea)

AM FM radio

Canned food.

6. It's a good idea to prepare like that.

This past week I was decluttering in my basement and found a battery operated am/fm radio and wavered as to whether I should keep it or give it away. I decided to keep it just in case. I live in a narrow valley where we don’t get much for radio and no tv through the air. But, I could pick up am radio if something big went down.

We rarely get earthquakes that we can feel. We don’t get hurricanes or tornadoes. We get snow. I have a foot of it in the yard at the moment with more coming tonight.
