On the Trail: Hassan gears up for re-election, names campaign manager

U.S. Sen. Maggie Hassan may not know which Republican she will run against in 2022, but she’s decided who she wants to run her re-election campaign.

“We’re going to be ready no matter who our opponent is,” said Aaron Jacobs, who was named Hassan’s campaign manager this week.

There’s already one Republican candidate in the race – 2020 Senate candidate and retired Army Gen. Don Bolduc. But Granite Staters and national GOP leaders are waiting on a decision by Gov. Chris Sununu to launch a Republican challenge against his predecessor in the corner office, run for re-election for a fourth term as governor or return to the private sector.

“I can’t wait to stack up Sen. Hassan’s record against whomever it is that comes out of this Republican primary,” Jacobs said in an interview with the Monitor, his first since taking over as Hassan’s campaign manager.
