Stepmother of missing New Hampshire girl Harmony Montgomery arrested for welfare fraud
MANCHESTER, N.H. (WGME) The stepmother of 7-year-old Harmony Montgomery, who disappeared in 2019, has been arrested for allegedly collecting food stamps meant for Harmony even though the child was not living with her, according to the New Hampshire Attorney Generals Office.
Police arrested 31-year-old Kayla Montgomery on Wednesday in Manchester, New Hampshire. She was charged with welfare fraud.
According to officials, between December 2019 and June 2021, Kayla obtained over $1,500 in food stamp benefits by failing to remove Harmony from Kaylas family account with NH DHHS Division of Family Assistance, and continuing to collect food stamp benefits for Harmony, despite the fact that Harmony was no longer living with Kayla and Kaylas husband, Adam Montgomery.
