What are you talking about?

Ike?
This is 2020.

You're smearing a Democratic House member who is quite well appreciated among his NJ district constituents.

Trashing this thread..

8. His only replacement would be a hard-core Republican

I live in his district. Gottheimer replaced a long-time, ultra-conservative, arrogant SOB. It was one of the few bright spots of the 2016 election.

The district ranges from hard-core conservative in the northwest part of the state (you'd think you were in Arkansas or something) to very liberal NYC suburbs in the NE part of the state.

Gottheimer manages to make everyone angry at him at some point with his votes. That is one sign that a politician is actually representing all interests in his district, something his predecessor never did. I don't agree with many of his votes with the Republicans but he is pragmatic and his vote is always there on the democratic side when it is needed.

Gottheimer is incredibly active. He never stops. He has done a lot for the district.

He can also be dismissive of progressives and only has managed appearances, never an open town hall. He knows he toes a very fine line and his reelection depends on him appealing to all kinds. But it is fair to say that he wouldn't have made it this far without help from progressives.

I will vote for his primary opponent who is much more progressive, and who wouldn't stand a chance against the Republican challenger.

I will support him wholeheartedly in November. He might be annoying but he is a vast improvement over a Trumper.
