N.J. man who punched cop during Capitol riot has raised over $30K since his arrest

A New Jersey gym owner, who is set to be sentenced this week for punching a police officer in the face during the attack on the U.S. Capitol, has raised over $30,000 in an online fundraiser since his arrest in January.

Prosecutors noted the substantial amount of money raised by Scott Fairlamb in their sentencing memo filed last week, arguing the Sussex County man should not be able to “capitalize” off his involvement in the Jan. 6 attempted insurrection. He can be seen on video as one of the first people to enter the Capitol and later punching an officer who was defending the government building.

They are seeking for Fairlamb to be sentenced Wednesday to 44 months in federal prison, as well as pay $2,000 in restitution and an additional fine.

Prosecutors said the 44-year-old showed “an absolute disregard for the rule of law coupled with a willingness to incite and engage in violence” during the attack on the Capitol.

The funds should go to the officers who suffered through this insurrection.

Use whatever money is sent to him and others for the attack to pay for repairing the damage done to the Capitol by this insurrection.

"Aggravated assault is usually a felony punishable by approximately one to twenty years in prison, depending on the specific provisions of each state's sentencing statute or sentencing guidelines."

Aggravated assault should carry a stiff penalty.

44 months is an absurdly short sentence.
