Lehtos Law: NJ State Might Require All E-Bikes to Be Registered and Insured

I think if it's just an electrified bicycle and they follow the rules of bicycles, they should be treated similarly.

Perhaps, instead of a law that punishes riders, set up maximum speeds that an e-bike can go or something else that treats operability similar to bicycles. Such as street bikes typically can go upwards of 45MPH. Just spitballing here. The one good thing about an e-bike is that it reduces the wobbling that some riders exhibit when they are pedaling.

There have been some bad fires here in NYC from mobile batteries charging and catching fire.

We are in the midst of snowbird season. It seems that every other vacationer has one. They ride where ever they want, streets, sidewalks, weaving in every direction. For the most part they are NOT responsible for their well being. Cars and pedestrians need to watch out for them. As for that wobble when pedaling, you should see the wobble when a very frail senor gets hoisted on one and than pushed off to go ride. Watched that a couple of days ago. I didn't stay around for the fall. If people had some common sense they might be a good thing, but unfortunately, at least down here in Florida, they seem to have left their common sense up north.
