I'm very disappointed: Andrew Zwicker has decided not to run for Congress.

Senator Zwicker will not Run for Congress

"After much reflection, I have decided not to seek the open seat for New Jersey's Congressional District 12 following the retirement of our legendary Congresswoman, Bonnie Watson Coleman. She has been a trailblazer and a tireless advocate for New Jersey, and her legacy of service will inspire generations to come.

"This is a time of great challenge and opportunity in NJ, and there is still much to be done. While I am deeply honored by the encouragement I've received to run, I believe my most impactful path forward at this time is to continue my work in the State Senate. I remain fully committed to working to improve the lives of families in the 16th Legislative District and across NJ.

"The strong field of candidates who have stepped forward is a testament to the vibrant leadership within our community. At this stage, I will not be making an endorsement in the primary, as I believe the voters of the 12th District deserve the space to engage with each candidate's vision. I look forward to supporting our eventual nominee and ensuring that the seat remains a powerful voice for progress in the nation's capital."

Pure class.

When he ran for Congress the first time - where he was defeated by Watson Coleman in the primaries - I thought he was a "Rush Holt wannabe, Physicist-Politician. (Wanting to be another Rush Holt would definitely not be a bad thing.) I voted for him in the Primary anyway. As the host of Science on Saturday at PPPL, he's been a revelation. He helped (in a small way) my son in his career by telling us how to apply for a SULI internship, which changed my son's life when he interned at ORNL,

I so much wanted him to represent our district in New Jersey in the House of Representatives, but it's not to be.

He is, of course, still doing the emcee work at Science on Saturday, I saw him this morning, so the upside is he stays in that role, but he would have, I'm sure, been an outstanding representative, definitely on the caliber of Rush Holt, the best Congressperson I ever had.

Damn crying shame. But he, Roy and Mitchelle represent us very well.

Andrew is always gracious and soft spoken, his passion for science clear and well presented.

We were therefore surprised when we saw him speak at the Princeton No Kings event with how firey he can be when speaking as a politician in support of a decent world.

As supporters we were impressed.

I was really, really hoping to see him in Congress, but I understand he has other personal priorities. He's a good man.
