Funeral for Brooklyn soldier killed in Afghanistan

NEW YORK (WABC) -- Family and friends will gather in Brooklyn Sunday to honor a young soldier killed overseas.

18-year old Private Errol "Elijiah" Milliard was killed in Afghanistan's Farah Province, when enemy forces attacked his unit with a rocket propelled grenade on the 4th of July.

He grew up in Brooklyn before moving to Birmingham, Alabama to finish his senior year of high school.

A teacher says Elijiah saw the military as an opportunity to develop leadership skills.
