Midtown Steakhouse Ben Benson's to Close Next Month

After 30 years in business, Ben Benson's is calling it quits. The restaurant's last day will be Father's Day, June 17. The Wall Street Journal reports that business has been down at the old-timer steakhouse for the past few years, and the owners of the building recently refused to renew the lease. Although Ben Benson's doesn't have the same name recognition as restaurants like Peter Luger or Keens, apparently it still has its fair share of loyal customers.

The typical NYC family business problem. Leases are out of control and great businesses are lost. Sad.

I think it was around $49 for a Prime Rib. The place was not cheap, but there is heavy competition in that neighborhood. Ruths Cris and Gallaghers are nearby. Plenty of other choices aren't far away.
