Rev. Al Sharpton still insisting federal government take over the Eric Garner case

Mira Wassef

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.-- Despite District Attorney Daniel Donovan's announcement Tuesday that he was convening a special grand jury to review the Eric Garner case, Rev. Al Sharpton is still insisting that the case be turned over to the federal government.

"I am in consultation with the lawyers and family on the announcement this morning, but we still maintain that we have asked the federal government to intervene in this case," Sharpton said in a statement to the Advance. "This announcement does not impact our move for federal takeover of this case at all."
