Entenmann’s Bakery On Long Island Closing

BAY SHORE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) – A famed bakery has left Long Island after nearly a century.

Newsday reports Saturday that the era of locally made Entenmann’s cakes and cookies ended with the closure of its Bay Shore plant on Aug. 13.

A spokesman told the publication the Bay Shore facility, which opened in 1961, was closed because “it can no longer effectively compete in the market.”

2. I like some of their stuff, but it's too darn pricey for us flyover folks.

I can only afford to buy it when the store does the bogo sales. If it's expensive out here, I'd hate to see their coast prices.

In addition to Entenmann's they carry milk, orange juice and yummy soup mixes. Originally it was just a Freihofer's outlet.

The Farmer's Almanac predicts heaver snowfall by January 2015.

I also plan to wrap the Weigela and the Elderberry bushes in burlap to protect 'em from snowplows. The kio pond will have a heater this winter.

Never turned it on this summer. In fact, I think I used the fan only a few nights.
Strangest summer I can remember.
No hurricanes in the Atlantic coming our way either.
